What problem is the injection meant to solve?
Ask the contractor to identify the void or leak path, explain the proposed material and describe how its placement will be controlled. Injection may be proposed for a specific soil or leakage problem; it does not automatically make a moving wall structurally sound.
What can it leave unresolved?
- A failed footing or undermined toe.
- Broken anchors or widespread wall movement.
- A drainage source that continues to wash out soil.
- Unknown voids outside the treatment area.
What should a written proposal explain?
Request the material’s technical information, suitability for wet conditions, injection locations, estimated quantity and verification method. Ask how the crew will detect or contain material escaping toward the lake.
Have the assessor explain why this method fits the condition found. Compare the proposed outcome with drainage repair or a structural repair, not just the price per injection point.
Does the method change the permit question?
Give Alabama Power the actual repair method and product information. A minimally visible operation can still involve project lands or the lakebed. Confirm review before starting.
How will you know the repair worked?
Agree on the evidence to be recorded before and after treatment, the monitoring period and the conditions covered by any warranty. Keep future changes at the same marked locations in your maintenance record.
Does land disturbance need ADEM review?
Lake Martin has a special stormwater rule. Non-exempt disturbance can require coverage even below one acre. Describe the entire footprint, including access and stockpiles, and request a determination if the exemption is unclear. Prepare an ADEM review request.
