What is shared around the lake?

Alabama Power manages the lake’s shoreline permission process. Its current reservoir page lists 41,150 acres and 880 miles of shoreline. Across that shoreline, parcel boundaries and local jurisdiction still matter.

Use the official lake and community maps for orientation, then use your deed and survey for the property. A neighborhood map does not settle ownership or establish a construction boundary.

How do you resolve the local office?

Check the county and parcel number, then ask whether the site is within municipal or other applicable jurisdiction. Alexander City, Dadeville and Eclectic have their own published processes. Tallapoosa County has a Building Department. Elmore distinguishes rural building requirements from floodplain and municipal review.

For Coosa-side addresses, first establish the parcel’s county and jurisdiction through official property records; obtain a direct determination rather than applying neighboring Elmore or Tallapoosa rules.

Which rule is easy to miss?

ADEM’s Lake Martin rule can require construction stormwater coverage for non-exempt disturbance below one acre. Include access cuts, stockpiles and grading in the review request.
